Trading Success-Part 3

Filed Under (Trading Pyschology) by umikun on 28-05-2009

This is the finale of the Trading Success series, and i am going to talk about how to duplicate the success of ”Practise Makes Perfect” in trading.

In computer gaming, sports or any other skills you have learnt, you need to commit the skills and techniques to your memory first. What comes next is practise, practise and practise. Some of you may remember the first time while you are learning how to drive a car; you cannot focus shifting the gear and checking the blind spot at the same time. After driving for more than 10 years, you can drive while drinking and talking on the phone at the same time. This is what i call practise makes perfect!

When you have enough practise, your skills will be implant in your subconscious mind, and will become your second nature. Same goes for trading skills, when you have study the market conditions long enough and couple with correct practise consistently, there is high probability that your trading skills become your second nature. When your trading skills become your second nature, you may even have “sixth sense” of the market conditions.

If you are determine to be proficent in trading, remember to practice practice and practice. Nothing comes easy! If you desire something, there must always be some sacrifice.

Trading Success-Part 2

Filed Under (Trading Pyschology) by umikun on 21-05-2009

Another powerful insight i have come across during my Warcrafting period is learning to create consistency in my game. In order to implant consistency in your trading mentaility, a series of success need to be created.

When a series of success is created, you will naturally feel confident in your trading skills and develop a winning attitude in your trading. Some of you may find it hard to swallow the idea of creating a series of success in trading, where the market is unpredictable with inconsistent results. However, it is acheivable if you believe in yourself. Try the following method and let me know if it works for you.

When you are in a position and in the money, always adjust your stop loss to 5%-10% of your target profits. By doing this consistently, you will always make some profits even if the market turn against you. In time to come, you will create a sense of “winner” inside you.

However, if you face a string of losing trades, stop trading immediately and relax yourself for a period of time. When you have rested enough and have decided to return to your trading business, start trading with a smaller lot size, and build up your confidence slowly by following the above method.

That’s all follks. Have fun and may the force be with you……

Trading Success-Part 1

Filed Under (Trading Pyschology) by umikun on 19-05-2009

During my 1 month plus of “Gaming in the Zone”, i found one of the crucial element that involves in successful trading. The answer is PASSION!

Passion is define as : a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept.

To master trading successfully is never an easy task, and i could say that it is the toughest profession in the world. As it involves the art of pyschology and science. For those who have just started to learn trading, you may feel excited even at the slightest movement in the market. However, when the going gets tough, you will be facing with the toughest challenge in your life (Your own pyschology). This is where it makes the difference between those with true passion and those with “3 minutes of passion”. It is the deep passion that keeps you going and overcoming the obstacles along the way.

So i guess we have talk enough about one of the crucial element (passion) involves in successful trading. So how do you actually duplicate the same enthusiasm and high level of excitement when you wake up early in the Sunday morning playing Warcraft while having only slept 3 hours before?

First of all, you need to identify your goals and dreams. Without these, you will get mentally burnt out in no time. Trust me! During my period of “Gaming Obsession” levelling fast is my goal, and it is what keeps me going on and on, night after night of sleep deprivation. So you need to identify your goal in trading. What you want to acheive? Your timeline in acheiving your goals….etc.

Next, form a close circle of team mates who share the same passion as you. It will increase your enthusiasm level and push you forward to the next level.

“No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to be the third mind” by Napoleon Hill.

Another advantage of having a close circle of team mates is to share your goals and dreams to them. The more you talk from your heart, the more real it will become and soon you will reach your goals.

So how do you know if you develop the passion? One of the guideline is when you speak of intensity and focus about trading. You will find yourself thristy for knowledge and welcome any challenges with positive mind.

5 Easy Steps to Forex Trading Mastery

Filed Under (Forex Trading, Trading Pyschology) by umikun on 19-04-2009

I was about to go to bed, after long hours on warcrafting since morning. It was these 5 Steps to Forex Trading Mastery that I would like to share with you before I slipped my mind.

Use to read dozens of trading books from fundamentals to technical analysis. Tried numerous Forex trading indicators and strategies or attending courses that costs me $3000 for 2 days, and yet I was still in the red or break-even (if I am lucky) by the end of the month.

Recalling back, there are a 3 main reasons why I used to end up this way.

1) I was just searching for the Holy Grail in Forex trading, which does not exist in this world.

2) Lack of in-depth understanding in trading psychology, this is because most of the gurus here did not go in-depth on trading psychology.

3) Too biases on a single direction in the market

After numerous trial and errors, I have personally come up with 5 easy steps to Forex Trading Mastery (If you follow closely)

  • 1) Do not be too biases on a single direction in the Forex market, because the situation may change (depending on the big boys). You got to be open minded in the midst of your trading decisions.
  • 2) Keep a record of your trades. It is not just trades you have entered or exited. You need to keep track of your feelings and emotions. Try to find what triggers you to enter that particular position; peer pressure? Fear of not full maximizing your profits? Afraid to cut losses?
  • 3) As there is no such things like Forex Holy Grail strategies, you need to settle on a strategy that suits your personality and lifestyle. In this way, you will be more focus on the Forex market, than concern about your fanciful strategies.
  • 4) Observe your own thoughts and emotions during your trading sessions and keep a record. This will help you to eliminate your fear and greed.
  • 5) Develop patience. This will help to filter unnecessary early/late entry to the market.

I hope you enjoy my short article above. Good Night!
